Fostering Economic Equity: Fixing the Racial Imbalance in Consumer Finance

October 21, 2020 | 5:30pm

In the current moment of social, racial, economic and cultural shifting, HFLA is replacing its annual fundraising gala with a virtual community conversation on issues that impact us all. Systemic financial inequality has devastated communities of color in the U.S. for many decades. Our racially imbalanced system has resulted in a lack of access to capital, institutional barriers to home ownership, obstacles to education and the persistent inability to overcome economic hurdles for non-whites living in this country. HFLA calls on our Northeast Ohio partners in the banking, housing, and credit sectors to join us in this community conversation to determine how we may come together to create sustainable change toward a regional economy where everyone has a chance to participate fully.
